Neptyne is shutting down

Today we have a sad announcement. After two years of running Neptyne as an online service, we have decided to shut down the company and as a result, will also shut down the service, both the core product and the google sheet add-on as well.

We will keep the product going until March 1, 2025 and have open sourced the underlying code today. This should give all of our users plenty of time to export their data and code and run their own instances of Neptyne. We’ve unlisted the Google Sheets Add-On, but if you know the url, you can still install it. There is a new menu item that allows you to set your own server so when the Neptyne service shuts down, you can still run Python inside of Google Sheets.

We know this news may come as a disappointment to our dedicated users who have relied on Neptyne for their data-driven workflows and spreadsheet automation. Our goal in open-sourcing the code is to empower the community to continue innovating with Neptyne’s functionality independently. We believe this transition will unlock new possibilities for those interested in customizing and extending the tool to fit their own unique needs.

As we prepare to wind down, we want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported us. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see how Neptyne has been used in creative ways across different industries. While this is the end of Neptyne as a hosted service, it marks the beginning of a new chapter where the community can shape its future. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
